Setting the Alarm

Was it for this I uttered prayers,
And sobbed and cursed and kicked the stairs,
That now, domestic as a plate,
I should retire at half-past eight?

-'Grown-up' by Edna St. Vincent Millay

Spouse and I have lately been having difficulty sleeping. Part of the problem lies in the fact that going to bed on time, and at the same time every night, is both crucially important and awfully challenging.
Spouse has had a marvellous idea and we plan to put it into practice shortly.
Whoever else thought of setting an alarm clock for bedtime? Much like an early-morning practice one would, hopefully, get used to responding to the endless chirping and make as much of an effort to fall asleep as one does to awaken.
At least, that is the intention at this present time.

Thanks for the comment and the very neat poem. May it be so for you, too. Your post today makes me think of my grandfather. When the wind up alarm went off at his house for time to get up and deliver ice, legend goes Paw Paw threw the alarm out in the yard as hard as he could. The alarm looked the part when I saw it in Gramma's back bedroom. Have a good night.
