Nearby

Spouse had begged for somebody to fetch his wife as he lay injured on the road. One person listened and ran to find me, knocked on my door and urged me to hurry.
She sat on our couch some days later and we remarked on the miracle that Spouse was sufficiently coherent to give details so that I could be summoned.
She stared at us, said to Spouse, "but you didn't. You gave me the wrong address."
We both said that we did not understand.
"You actually told me the wrong address- you must have been confused, with the concussion. You had the right street, but the wrong number."
I gasped, "but how did you find me?"
She shrugged.
"I ran up and down the street, and I couldn't find that number anywhere. But I felt you were nearby. So I thought I'd try this place, and there you were."
And there I was.

goosebumps. I believe there are guardian angels but they don't have wings and fly about, they have two feet, strong sensitivity and follow their instincts. She was one.

This post is somewhat connected to the previous post in being about ethric communication

Beth, I think so too. And sometimes they make long trips to see friends in need, and they make those friends feel better with their company. ;)

ArtSparker, if you mean the one about my mother, the connections between us, then I think you're right- but that's only a tiny fraction of the odd things before, during and after Spouse's accident. I am overwhelmed by them in fact, by the signs that I believe were there and that meant nothing until afterwards.

She was probably looking for "TheElementary" on the mailbox. Pappy

Why not just install two little buttons at the reception desk with the instructions, Press 1 for English and 2 if you need the assistance of your spouse? Three cheers for the diplomatic skills of spouse. The Irish have never been know for their skills in this area, ergo the term "Ire". I know. I inherited a healthy dose. Pappy

Sorry, the last comment goes with the next post. I got ahead of myself. That doesn't happen often. :) Pappy

Texican, re: your first comment- oh, good one. Very good. How do you think of these so quickly? You should put your one-liners in a book.
'1001 Wisecracks to Start Your Day.' ;)
Re: your second comment- I'll suggest it very politely next time I visit. But they might not understand my accent... one never knows.

And if I could get ahead of myself more often, I'd be able to come back with some of those wisecracks when people insult my Spouse and I!
